2005 Aglianico

Type of Grape: This grape is as uncommon as it is bold and tempestuous.  Fewer than 50 acres of this grape is grown in all of California.  It is a southern Italian native with dark and at times dense tannins offering opportunity and pitfalls to the vintner.  Fully ripened Aglianico offers great color, deep blackberry flavors with softened but abundant tannins.   

Description of Wine: This wine is a blend of 75% Aglianico and 25% Barbera.  This Aglianico has a deep color, modest to robust tannins and blackberry flavor with leather undertones brightened on the top with acids brought by Barbera.
