BAUMBACH WINES
2007 Zinfandel
75% Zinfandel 25% Charbono
Type of Grape: This grape is grown widely throughout California from the Coastal appellations to the Sierra Foothills. The character of this grape is highly dependant on where it is grown. Dating back to the Gold Rush days and likely introduced by Italian immigrants, Zinfandel is the quintessential grape of California. Zinfandel grapes have a shy acid and modest tannic complexity. Only 1,000 pounds of grapes are harvested each year from the 100 vines I carefully manage at the Bernhard Museum Property. The tight grape clusters limits the ripening capabilities of these vines requiring careful pruning of the vine and thinning of the grapes.
Description of Wine: A classic California red wine with a light body and a peppery taste and vanilla nose.
